Jennifer Hawken, MD is a fellowship-trained psychiatrist who holds three board certifications: Psychiatry, Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry, and Addiction Medicine. She is a native of Northern Virginia.
She attended college at Georgetown University. She studied Biology of Global Health and graduated with honors. She obtained her medical degree from Eastern Virginia Medical School. There, she was recognized for academic excellence and inducted into Alpha Omega Alpha honor society. She matched at Brown University for psychiatry residency and then completed a Consultation-Liaison fellowship at Brigham & Women’s Hospital, a teaching hospital of Harvard Medical School.
In her free time, she enjoys reading, spending time in nature, and going for walks.
This is an intentionally small and patient-focused practice. Dr. Hawken’s top practice priority is safety. The core values of her practice are compassion, advocacy, and quality.
Dr. Hawken emphasizes a whole-person, holistic approach to mental health care. She will work with you on a collaborative treatment plan that prioritizes well-being and recovery.
Dr. Hawken sees patients for a variety of conditions including depression, ADHD, anxiety, OCD, and PTSD. Dr. Hawken has expertise in treating individuals with co-occurring medical conditions, women’s mental health, and in psychodynamic psychotherapy.
If an individual needs extensive support such as wrap around services, home visits, case management, or is at high risk for suicide, self-harm, hospitalization, etc. then they may not be appropriate for the practice.
